Galunggung Volcano


Mount Galunggung is a volcano of 2167 m above sea level. It lies about 17 kilometers from Tasikmalaya. There are several objects offered, namely forest tour in at least 120 hectares surface of the Bureau of forest management, hot water, instead of bathroom complete with swimming pool, bathroom and hot tub facilities. Mount Galunggung is a volcano near Tasikmalaya town. The volcano erupted in 1990 and spread ash to rain all over Indonesia and neighboring countries.

An easy journey by minibus from Tasikmalaya, bike ride and then a two-hour walk is Mount Galunggung. An active volcano which erupted less than ten years ago, it's worth a look to see. Hiking around the "Golden Crater" Mount Papandayan, Garut southwest, which activates a hiss of steam from the volcano. The mountain is named for its bright yellow sulfur deposits and profits of their fame, or infamy, due to their very active and potentially dangerous geysers of steam and poisonous gases. Be careful when walking around the volcano rim.
